Post Graduate Medical Training
Mr Colin Holburn began his postgraduate medical training with basic surgical training. This level of surgical training covered a range of experience include neurosurgery, urology, orthopaedics as well as general surgery. Having completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Mr Holburn decided to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine and undertook traiing in anaesthetics and Intensive Care.
Mr Holburn then completed higher training in Emergency Medicine including obtaing experience in acute poisoming, cardiology, elderly care and paediatrics
With the specialist knowledge, extensive experience and training in all aspects in relation to Emergency Medicine, Mr Holburn is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC).
Mr Holburn has extensive experience as a consultant. Using his expertise in Emergency Medicine, he was entrusted with ensuring high-quality day-to-day treatment of patients admitted to his emergency department.
Utilising his experience, people skills and management technique, Mr Holburn was responsible for running the Emergency Department. This position included full management of the department and continuous improvement by undertaking a variety of clinical governance activities.
With a passion for Emergency Medicine, Mr Holburn focused on the management of severe acutely ill patients. He is a qualified as an advanced trauma life support provider and is s a dedicated ATLS instructor to share his expereicnme and expertise with other medical professionals.
With his experience and expertise, Mr C J Holburn is an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Furthermore, his management skills including an MBA from the Open University give him the knowledge required to provide expertise in emergency planning and business continuity.
